Cedar Energy was founded to fund the development, construction, and operation of small scale-hydro projects in Malawi.

In 2019, Cedar Energy Limited (a company registered and incorporated in Malawi) identified an initial project of 3MW on the Mulosa Rier in Mulanje District, South Malawi.
